Information security

So much of what we do in our everyday lives involves transferring, holding or storing information – we are meant to be living in the information age after all. New technology has also revolutionised how we communicate with one another, with information quite literally floating about these days – to use the analogy of a data cloud.

But while technology has made the world a more efficient place, it’s not all been plain sailing. As the media continues to remind us, no company is immune to the potential for information to fall into the wrong hands.

More than just IT

When a company decides to outsource, information security is top of the agenda. And it’s not just phishing and the threat posed by unscrupulous third parties that concerns them. They want to be sure that access to information internally is tightly controlled too, whether that be electronic data or paper based documentation.

At the Aztec Group, we recognise just how important information security is. As well as having a dedicated team to develop and manage our control framework and provide advice to employees, we make information security everyone’s responsibility – nobody is too junior or senior for training on how to spot and manage the risks.

And while our investment in the latest systems has left us well placed to identify and alert our teams to potential risks and intercept suspicious activity, we know that our clients place just as much importance on internal security. They recognise that we work with a broad range of clients and, understandably, want us to take the necessary measures to ensure only the right people have access to their information.

It’s just as much about getting the simple things right – the use of passwords, encryptions, secure storage units, a good old fashioned clear desk policy and controls around building access, all of which has to be second nature.

The stamp of approval

Information security is not just a priority for our clients, but for us too. Don’t just take our word for it, though. Our business has been formally certified with ISO 27001:2013 status – the leading industry standard for IT security. This applies across all of our offices and demonstrates a truly multi-jurisdictional approach.
